Today’s Goal: Be able to describe the function of DNA.

Today we finished constructing our paper snowmen based on the DNA strips.  Then, we began making the DNA Pamphlet.  This is due on Tuesday.  We will have more time in class to work on this.

Tomorrow we will be extracting DNA from chicken liver.  Fun!

Today’s Goal: Be able to identify phenotypes given the genotype in a Punnett Square.

Today we built our paper snowpeople according to the DNA strip and phenotypes for our snowman.

Today’s Goal: Be able to identify inherited traits and environmentally influenced traits.

This week is DNA week!   All week we will focus on Genes, Genetics and DNA.

Today we worked in groups to chart inherited traits and traits that are environmentally influenced.  Then, we began making DNA strips for the paper snowpeople that we will hang on the windows (it’s time to replace our paper Fall leaves).

Today we worked on the Life Science Web activity.  Students worked for 10 minutes independently, and then shared their work with the group.  Groups then created a final copy of the web to turn in for their group.

Today, we turned in the Life Science Dictionary.  Students with missing work had the opportunity to work on their assignments today and ask questions as needed.  Other students, watched the PBS video “My Life As A Turkey.”

Today we took quiz 2.  After the quiz, students continued working on the Life Science Dictionary.  If time permitted, groups completed the “Gregor Mendel – Peas In A Pod” lab.
