Directions:
(1) Select one of the cell organelles and structures from the list on page 15 of the stapled packet in your folder.

(2) Create a poster with the name of your organelle or structure at the top.  Make the name stand-out, maybe writing it in bubble letters.

(3) Draw a picture that represents what your organelle or structure does in the cell.  For example, some people drew a garbage truck for “lysosome” because they help to clean up waste in the cell.  Others drew a boss for “nucleus” because the nucleus is like the manager of the cell.  Be creative!

(4) Include the definition of the organelle or structure on your poster.  You can find the definition on page 15 of the stapled packet in your folder.

BE SURE TO COLOR IT!  And, don’t forget to put your name on it!

This is an intro to life science, so your answers should be based on what you know already.  You don’t need to look up answers.  I’m interested in learning what you already know about life science.

(1) Title this paper “Life Science Essay.”

(2) Then, write a paragraph answering each of the following questions.

PAGRAPH 1: What is life science?
PARAGRAPH 2: Examples of what a life scientist might study.
PARAGRAPH 3: What are the benefits of studying life science?
PARAGRAPH 4: What do you think will be your favorite part of life science and why?

Dent is our ficticious, alien pen pal.  He ran into trouble when his sister Andrysa asked him what “density” is.  Dent ran to his room and asked us for help.

In a letter, explain to Dent what “density” is.  Give examples and draw pictures to help him understand.

In class we watched a video called “Double Density” to help us come up with ideas for the Pen Pal Letter Assignment (Letter To Dent).

For extra credit, do one of the experiments from the video and take a picture of the final result.  You can print it and bring it to class or email my school email address: nate.brown@madisonschools.net .
